House Democrats averted a messyleadership struggle, clearing the way for Maryland Rep. Steny Hoyer to become second in command of their new minority without a challenge from South Carolina Rep. James Clyburn.
Under an arrangement worked out in private, officials said late Friday that Clyburn would instead receive a new position, title unknown and duties undescribed, explicitly labeled the third-ranking post in leadership.
The maneuvering was described by Democratic officials after Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., issued a vaguely worded statement saying she intends to nominate Clyburn to a new No. 3 post. The statement made no mention of Hoyer, and officials who filled in the details did so on condition of anonymity, saying they were not permitted to speak publicly about the matter.
Instead of admitting that a black man is incapable to do the work of the white man, Pelosi used political correctness to avoid a backlash from the Congressional Black Caucus. Although her move may look innocent, in reality, it is a slap to the face of every black American. It is incredulous for a racist witch from San Francisco to push the black man to the back of the bus. That is what Pelosi is doing to James Clyburn.
As noted, Pelosi never explained what exactly will Clyburn do. He won’t be pushing votes as a whip does or chairing a policy committee for the caucus. Therefore, there is no benefit this brings to the House Democratic caucus and Pelosi. By resolving the Hoyer-Clyburn conflict in an insufficient manner, Pelosi is delaying the inevitable. She will later face questions about how her insistence on keeping her grip on power and the nasty confrontation with the Congressional Black Caucus on Clyburn's treatment as a puppet to the white man.
