Obama Spent in Excess of $1 Trillion During each of the Last Two Years

(Wall Street Journal) The U.S. government ran its 26th straight monthly budget deficit in November amid wrangling over a package that would extend big tax cuts to Americans trying to recover from recession.

The Treasury Department, in its regular budget monthly statement, said the government spent $150.4 billion than it collected in the second month of fiscal 2011.
Economists surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires had expected a shortfall of $126.5 billion. November is traditionally a month for deficits.

Washington has spent in excess of $1 trillion during each of the last two fiscal years, as revenues were reduced by the deep recession. At the same time, the economic slump and Wall Street bailout raised the government's expenses.

The budget statement Friday said federal spending totaled $585.7 billion so far this fiscal year, with revenues at $294.9 billion. In the last two months, the federal government spent $128.3 billion on defense, $36.8 billion in interest payments on its debt, and $20.0 billion for unemployment benefits.

The U.S. budget deficit in fiscal 2010, at $1.294 trillion, was the second-highest ever, behind the record 2009 deficit of $1.416 trillion.

In-state tuition for illegal immigrants is preserved with California Supreme Court ruling

(L.A. Now) The California Supreme Court decided unanimously Monday that illegal immigrants may continue to be eligible for in-state tuition rates at the state's colleges and universities rather than pay the higher rates charged to those who live out of state.

In a ruling written by Justice Ming W. Chin, one of the panel's more conservative members, the state high court said a California law that guarantees the lower tuition for students who attend California high schools for at least three years and graduate does not conflict with a federal prohibition on giving illegal immigrants educational benefits based on residency.

College students who are in the country illegally are barred from government financial-aid programs. The U.S. Supreme Court is expected eventually to decide whether the lower tuition rates also violate federal law.

If the Federal law and State law have similiar positions, the court always side on the stricter policy. In this case representing Federal statute, illegal aliens are not priveldged to recieve financial-aid programs from the American tax-payers. But in California, it is a normal occurance to take care of any illegal alien wanting an education. In fact, about 25,000 illegal aliens are estimated to receive in-state tuition rates in California. No wonder California is going bankrupt.

California's unemployment fund has deficit of $10.3 billion

California is on the verge of bankruptcy. The recession, unions, and the state legislature's decision years ago to raise pension benefits have contribute to the crisis.

Governor-elect Jerry Brown has promised not to raise taxes without voter approval, but many are anticipating that he will renege on his promise. The California people will be reminded again why he was a former governor years ago.

California has borrowed about $8.5 billion from the federal government (our money) to keep benefits flowing. It is expected that California will be mandated to start paying the interest on the loan. The U.S. government is scheduled to bill the state $362 million in interest starting next year.

It is likely Jerry Brown will probably raise unemployment taxes on employers as well as reduce benefits. Since raising the tax would require a two-thirds vote in both houses of the Legislature, Sacramento has no other option, but to pass the measure. With 2012 around the corner, it's going to be another bad year for Democrats.

Either way, California voters put Liberals in Sacramento. The consequence of their stupidity will soon be revealed.
