American Born Muslim Wants to Join US Military to Kill Our Soldiers

A recent poll done in 2007 showed that up to 25% of young, US Muslims support suicide attacks in the name of Islam. In that same poll, about 80% of the US Muslim population is assimilated into society. Therefore, if even 20% to 25% of US Muslims aren't integrated in our society, there is significant amount of radical Muslims within our borders who may be a possible terrorist threat!

(SIlive) STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - A former Staten Islander has been indicted on charges he lied to federal authorities about a trip to Pakistan during which he allegedly sought to join the Taliban.

Abdel Hameed Shehadeh, 21, formerly of Annadale and Prince's Bay, faces a three-count indictment that alleges he falsely said on multiple occasions that a 2008 trip to Pakistan was for the purpose of attending a religious school.

Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn counter that Shehadeh's real motive was to join a jihadist fighting group.

Shehadeh, who was born in the United States and attended Tottenville High School, initially caught the attention of U.S. authorities by buying a one-way ticket to Pakistan in June 2008. Once he arrived there, Pakistani officials wouldn't allow him into the country and he returned to New York.

Shehadeh "informed (one witness) that he hoped to be deployed to Iraq," the previous complaint said. "At the time he was applying to join the military, Shehadeh told (the witness), when he arrived in Iraq, he intended to commit 'treason' and fight United States soldiers."

The previous complaint said Shehadeh traveled to Hawaii in April 2009. There, he bought an airline ticket to Dubai in June, but was intercepted by FBI agents who told him he was on a "no fly" list. In subsequent interviews, he allegedly admitted he had hoped to join the Taliban and receive "guerrilla warfare" and "bomb-making" training, the complaint said.
