Red bed

In a recent post I wrote about the recently restored Melville House. The Melville Bed, shown here, dates from 1700 and was taken from Melville House and given to the Victoria & Albert Museum by Lord Melville.

Given the lack of heating, and likely drafty atmosphere, I would imagine anyone would welcome the warmth created by the drawn curtains. Access however was limited to those of significance. Oh, and probably someone to improve that heating.
