Video: Democratic Senator complains lame-duck agenda “rigged” on hot mic

(Hot Air) – “It’s all rigged, the whole conversation’s rigged,” Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO) complained today on the Senate floor — without realizing that someone had left the C-SPAN microphones hot. An aide quickly alerted staff and had the mics shut off, but not before viewers heard Bennet’s disembodied voice griping about the top-down management of the lame-duck agenda. The Daily Caller first reported it without identifying the Senator, but Bennet later stood by his remarks.

But there is more irony to be mined in a complaint from Bennet on rigging conversations. Just five weeks ago, Bennet’s campaign tried to get radio station KOA to rig an interview leading up to the midterm election. At that time, the only conversation Bennet wanted to have was about how great he was, and how much of a sacrifice it was to actually campaign for office. He wasn’t having a lot of those other conversations then, either — at least not by choice.

Honestly, the process of debate is nonexistent. One sees more of a filibuster than a real debate. This is how Washington is run. It is pure pageantry for the general public. While the vote is done openly, everything is done behind close doors.

Bobby Jindal: Make Congress part-time

Jindal said in an interview with Human Events.

“We used to pay farmers not to grow crops, let's pay congressmen to stay out of Washington, D.C.,. Mark Twain said that our liberty, our wallets were safest when the legislature's not in session.”

“Make them part-time, give them term limits. Don’t let them become lobbyists. When they have to live under the same rules and laws they pass for the rest of us, maybe you’d see some more common sense coming out of Washington, D.C.”

Probably the best sound advice from a politician. When Congress is in session they always find ways to spend our money. Make them part time and less money would be spent. There is no need to make them career politicians. Let these Congressmen and Congresswomen have a full time job outside of Washington and convene several times a year and on emergency basis to discuss ways to improve America.

(NBCWashington.com) By far the weirdest thing on the site is the "What Kind of Condom Are You?" quiz, which like all those loathed but pervasive Facebook quizzes, uses a few superficial questions to lead to an ostensibly whimsical result. Do you like cheeseburgers and fries? You might be a latex condom. Reality TV fans could be flavored condoms. If you like being in charge at work, you’re a magnum. (The quiz tells me that my "no-frills personality is suited for the standard latex condom." Gee, thanks, D.C. government.)

Regardless of your quiz result, you’ll be getting magnums. In May, the Department of Health switched to distribution of the super-sized sheaths – because every man likes to imagine he needs one.

Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear Attendance Estimated at 150,000

CBS news estimated the rally of Glenn Becks on August 28, 2010 at 87,000. By looking at the ariel picture of that event, the National Park Service estimates between 300,000 and 325,000 people attended the Glenn Beck rally.

Base on permits for 60,000 people for this rally of Jon Stewart and Colbert (Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear), the rally is ordered to have 500 port-a-potties for the event, which are recommended at a ratio of one for every 300 people. Using those figures, the estimated crowd would have been 150,000.

Besides, the Jon Stewart/Colbert rally was a free concert with some famous notables. Who wouldn't want to go see a free concert? We are American, aren't we? When there is a free concert, you can see a huge gathering.
