Michelle Obama Needs to Set an Example to Obese Kids

Michelle Obama may care about obese kids, but she doesn't seem to follow what she preaches. Michelle Obama's dinner is considered unhealthy. So, she balance a nice salad with a braised acho-chile short ribs, which contains 1575 calories per serving and has 141g of fat! It is like getting a diet coke with a Big Mac and a large order of fries. It is called hypocrisy.

(Vail Daily) VAIL — First lady Michelle Obama enjoyed locally grown fare at a Vail restaurant Saturday night before hitting the slopes of Vail Mountain early Sunday.

Obama and her two daughters, 9-year-old Sasha and 12-year-old Malia — together with some family friends — are spending the Presidents Day holiday weekend in Vail. President Obama did not make the trip.

The first lady went to Restaurant Kelly Liken in Vail Village on Saturday night, dining on a pickled pumpkin salad with arugula and a braised ancho-chile short rib with hominy wild mushrooms and sauteed kale.

During her time as first lady, Obama has pushed for healthier eating in an effort to combat childhood obesity. She also planted a vegetable garden on the White House grounds in 2009.

Obama Tells America to Make Sacrifices While the Michelle and Kids Go on Vacation

This is a blatant hypocrisy. While Obama tells us to "put off a vacation" and make sacrifices, Michelle Obama takes kids to an expensive ski trip. The more important question is "who is watching Barack while the family is out?"

(Daily Mail) — President Obama has been accused of having double standards after appealing for Americans to sacrifice their holidays just days before his wife and children went on a costly skiing trip.

First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha are on a ‘private family trip’ to Colorado for Presidents’ Day Weekend.

Mrs Obama and Sasha, nine, were pictured waiting in line at the Eagle Bahn gondola to the top of the mountain today.

The First Lady’s cream ski jacket was open, perhaps indicating that temperatures are not as bitter as they are in other parts of the country.

A light snow appeared to be falling on Mrs Obama and her daughter, who herself was clad in fluorescent pink snowboarding pants and a sky blue puff jacket.

Both wore gloves and hats. They were not carrying skis.

The family appear to have flown there on Air Force Two.

They are staying at the upscale Sebastian Hotel on Vail Mountain, where rooms start at $650 a night and range up to more than $2,400 for multi-bedroom suites.

The trip came just days after the President tried to sell his cost-cutting budget to the American people by asking them to stay at home.

‘If you’re a family trying to cut back, you might skip going out to dinner, or you might put off a vacation,’ he said.

While Mr Obama is staying put at the White House, the rest of his family headed to Colorado – rather than visiting slopes closer to Washington in Virginia or Pennsylvania.

Their trip came despite previous criticisms over the family’s extravagant vacations, including a trip last summer to Spain.

A new Democratic threat to health care law

We don't need charity from these moderate Democrats. We want them out of office. Their insincere gesture is for political expediency.

Politico) A handful of moderate Senate Democrats are looking for ways to roll back the highly contentious individual mandate — the pillar of President Barack Obama’s health care law — a sign that red-state senators are prepared to assert their independence ahead of the 2012 elections.

They haven’t decided whether to propose legislation, but any effort by moderate Democrats that takes aim at the individual mandate could embarrass Obama and embolden Republicans who are still maneuvering to take down the health care law.

And it’s not just health care. The senators are prepared to break with the White House on a wide range of issues: embracing deeper spending cuts, scaling back business regulations and overhauling environmental rules. The moderates most likely to buck their party include Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Claire McCaskill of Missouri and Jon Tester of Montana — all of whom are up for reelection in 2012 and represent states Obama lost in 2008.
