Royal Worcester, the venerable china maker is to go out of business after 257 years. This set of their Evesham pattern with gold trim was the first set of china that I started collecting over 25 years ago, so maybe it will now become a rarity. Is this a benefit of the financial crisis? The company supplied china to the Queen, the Houses of Parliament, the Dorchester, Claridges and the Savoy, and was founded in 1751, obtaining its Royal Warrant in 1789.
